Security & Data Protection
All transactions are processed by Shopify Payments (and PayPal for PayPal transactions). Your payment data is encrypted and sent directly to the payment provider; GlowGrove does not receive or store your full card details. Shopify Payments is PCI DSS compliant.
Authorisation, Capture & When You’re Charged
- For card payments via Shopify Payments, your card is authorised at checkout and typically charged when your order is dispatched.
- For some methods (e.g., PayPal, Shop Pay, Apple Pay, Google Pay), funds may be captured at the time of order according to the provider’s terms.
- If an item becomes unavailable before dispatch, we will adjust or refund the relevant amount.
You’ll receive an order confirmation email once your payment is authorised. If authorisation is declined by your bank, the order will not be created/confirmed.
3D Secure / Strong Customer Authentication (SCA)
For Visa and Mastercard (and where applicable, Amex and others), you may be asked to complete 3D Secure (SCA) verification. After entering your card details, a bank window may prompt you to authenticate (e.g., one-time SMS code, app approval, or biometric check). This additional step helps protect you from fraud. For questions about SCA, please contact your card issuer.
If Your Payment Fails
Payment can fail for several reasons: incorrect card details, insufficient funds, issuer security checks, SCA failure, spending limits, or temporary network issues.
Please try the following:
- Re-enter your details and ensure your billing address matches your bank’s records.
- Complete any 3D Secure prompts from your bank.
- Try another card or payment method (e.g., PayPal).
- Contact your bank/card issuer to approve the transaction.
